The ACCESS Heath Initiative was created to address the issues of access to
high quality affordable health in low middle and high income countries.
In the United States, Europe, Japan and other industrialized countries, the cost
of healthcare is rising at an unsustainable rate. The choice is clear, either
ration and restrict care or improve efficiency.
|
|
In low and middle income countries, where resources are limited, access to
high quality health depends on efficient delivery. We believe that access to
high quality affordable healthcare is a right for people everywhere and that
efficient health care services a necessity.

|
The ACCESS Health International identifies and documents best practices in delivery of high quality
affordable healthcare. We analyze what makes these systems work. We also identify enabling
government policies and payment practices. Our goal is to transfer knowledge of best practices
in healthcare both within and between countries by publishing the results of our work, by
holding conferences, by participating in international meetings, by preparing curricula for
both public health and management programs and hosting site visits. We also assist others in
implementing solutions on their own.

|
To date most of the systems we have identified as providing high quality
affordable health solutions are in Central and South India, a region rich in technology and
that has larger unmet medical needs. We believe that practices developed here are applicable to
countries of all income levels. Our offices are located in Hyderabad on the Campus of the Indian
School of Business and in Washington DC. The ACCESS Health International was created through support
from the William A. Haseltine Foundation for Medical Sciences and the Arts and by John Michael Lind
of Ashmore India through gifts from the Lind Family Trust.
