William A Haseltine PhD
Chairman and President

William A. Haseltine PhD has an active career in both Science and Business. He was a professor at Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Public Health from 1976-1993 where he was Founder and the Chair of two academic research departments. He is well known for his pioneering work on cancer, HIV/AIDS and genomics. He has authored more than 200 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals and is the author of several books. He is the Founder of Human Genome Sciences, Inc and served as the Chairman and CEO of the Company until 2004. He is also the Founder of several other successful biotechnology companies. Companies he has founded account for five drugs currently on the market including Benlysta and ABTRAX (Human Genome Sciences,Inc), Velcade (Proscript/Leucocyte,Inc), and Provenge (Dendreon,Inc).

William Haseltine is currently Chairman and President of ACCESS Health International, Inc (www.accessh.org) that supports access to affordable, high quality health services in low, middle and high income countries, and Chairman Haseltine Foundation for Science and the Arts that fosters a dialog between sciences and the arts. He is an Adjunct Professor at The Scripps Institute for Medical Research and the Institute of Chemical Engineering the University of Mumbai, India.

He is a member of the Advisory Board of the IE University, Madrid, the Advisory Council for the Koch Institute of MIT, a member of the Advisory Board of the Ragon Institute of Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard and MIT, The Rockefeller University Council, and is a Lifetime Governor of the New York Academy of Science.

He is an honorary member of the Board of Trustees of the Brookings Institution, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Center for Emerging Markets of the Indian School of Business, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a member of the Board of AID for AIDS International. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Metropolitan Opera, New York, a member of the Chairman’s Council of the Metropolitan Museum, New York, a Member of the International Council of the Guggenheim Museum, The International Council of The Tate Modern, a Member of Board of Directors of the Young Concert Artists, Inc. and the Youth Orchestra of the Americas.

John-Michael Lind
Director and Vice President

A founding member of ACCESS Health International, John-Michael is a trustee of The Lind Family Trust. John-Michael joined Ashmore in 2008 to set up and head the Ashmore India office, bringing 14 years of on-the-ground asset management and investment banking experience in India. Prior to Ashmore, he founded and ran Strategic Partners, a US-India boutique advisory and investment firm managing proprietary capital based in Bombay. Prior to Strategic Partners, he was for three years the initial CEO of Tata Telecom Maharashtra (formerly Hughes Ispat), the basic telecom license holder for Maharashtra and Karnataka. Previous to moving to India, he was a senior associate at White & Case for two years in London and New York. John-Michael started his career as a vice president at Salomon Brothers in New York and an associate at O'Sullivan Graev & Karabell.

Blaise Guerrand Hermes

Blaise Guerrand-Hermès is a Director at Avest Investments Management, where he focuses on the financing and development of cross-border companies, and was previously an associate and financial researcher at Ashmore, the leading Emerging Markets asset manager, with stints in the UK and India. Prior to that, Blaise started his career as an investment banker with NM Rothschild in London, focusing on equity issuances and capital markets. Blaise sits on the Board of several international companies and corporations and has served as a Director on the Board of ACCESS Health International, Inc. since 2007.
